Look into my eyes, it is where my demons hide
There is a song that I heard recently that caught my attention. The song is by Imagine Dragons and it is called Demons. In the song the artist explains that no one is perfect and how we are all dealing with something that may haunt us or keeps giving us trouble.
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
We all have our so called demons inside. It may be a temptation that we can't get past. Maybe it was a past event that we cannot forgive. Whatever it is on the outside we look like we are doing ok but in the inside it is screaming out.
So what do we do with these so called demons? It is simple, lay them at the feet of Jesus. You see the Bible says that he is our high priest and everything we have experienced he knows and understands us. Hebrews 4:15-16 says "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weakness, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." The Bible says that he is quick to forgive. Instead of trying to figure it out with our strength let's allow God to resolve it.
On the other side of the coin we have people in our life that we elevate as if they have no issues at times or we degrade people because of past mistakes. There is only one who walked this earth and was perfect and that was Jesus. Realize that someday even your closet friends, most trusted person, the person who you think is your idol, is going to fail you. We are only human. When we find someone in their fault we need to have a spirit like Christ. It is a spirit of love, grace, mercy, and of forgiveness. As we show them this type of attitude, we are given the opportunity of correction as God works on their heart.
God has a great plan for all of our lives. Don't allow your past to dictate your future. Allow God to define that for you. Also be careful who you put your trust in and be quick to forgive when people fail you. If you are dealing with something I am here to talk to you. Let us allow God to rid us of our demons, so that when people look into our eyes they see hope and the joy of the Lord.
